AnxiousEachDay || Blogmas Post1

Hiya guys! So as it is the second day of advent, I thought I would do something about my goals for this Christmas. I usually get kind of stressed at Christmas as mentioned in my previous post (Disappointment & Similar Events) and so I thought I would do some things that I can aim to achieve when I am anxious or nervous this Christmas.

1. Control my breathing
I tend to do quite heavy breathing when I am anxious and so it draws attention to the fact that I am worried. What I would really like is to be able to control my breathing so that other people around me (whether they know about my anxiety or not) won't really be able to tell that I am feeling stressed. It also makes things so much more enjoyable because I think that the first step to relaxing is being able to control the anxiety or stressful feeling.

2. Get plenty of sleep Christmas Eve night.
This may sound strange, but sleep can increase my anxiety and I read on another blog recently, that sleep is 'vital for bodily repair, cognitive function and general all-round health'. So, in order to try and decrease the amount of worrying I do, sleep is really important. If I get sleep, I will feel less anxious, meaning I enjoy my day a lot more. Obviously, it being Christmas, I will most-likely enjoy my day anyway, but it would still be much more pleasant to be able to enjoy the day after a good night's sleep.

3. To relax on last day of school
I know this sounds so stupid, but for me, this one is kinda important. Basically, a couple years ago, I was sick on the last day of school, just before we broke up for Christmas break. Now, because I associate events with times, other events that happened and days, I have started to feel quite anxious at the same time each year, on the last day of school. I know it sounds kinda pathetic, but for me, it is quite important and one of my key aims this year, is to relax and stop associating times and events with the past. Because as the movie Frozen says: "the past is in the past.... LET IT GO"

So these are my goals which I am aiming to achieve this Christmas. Why not comment down below any goals you have for Christmas and New Year? After Christmas, I will be posting about how I got on with these goals and whether or not I achieved them.
