Blogmas || Big Meals & Reading

Image from pinterest.com

Recently, I went out with some family and friends and we had a nice meal out at a restaurant. It was a 3 course meal and the food tasted absolutely delicious, and, I managed to eat it all, without worrying. Usually for me, big meals out with friends and family are often ruined, because I fret and stress about getting sick the entire time. I worry about two things happening:

1. I will get food poisoning or have an allergic reaction to something that could cause me to be sick
2. Someone else around me will be sick from an allergic reaction, food poisoning, or eating too much.

This is one of the reasons why I get anxious at Christmas (mentioned here: Christmas&MyBlogmas ). So being able to eat without worrying is quite a big achievement for me, as it is something I would love to be able to cope with better, as it effects my daily, everyday life, and it can become quite stressful for me. It is around these times, when I am feeling at my most anxious, that I am often told to try and distract myself. Distractions are a way, for me, to forget about my troubles, and loose myself in something else, and what better way to do this, than reading? For me, reading is a way for me to forget about my own troubles and escape into someone else's world. Below are three of my favourite book (series) that I find easy to "escape into", books that I can read for hours on end without even realising it. You may also notice that in my 'mini reviews', I mention that I can relate to the characters, which I think is partly what makes a book good - a character I can relate with.

1. The Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling
A series of 7 books: Harry Potter and the Philosophers (Sorcerers) Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. There are films of all 7 books, though I highly recommend reading the books before watching the films.

2. Girl Online Series by Zoe Sugg (A.K.A Zoella)
There are currently two books in the Girl Online series which are Girl Online and Girl Online, On Tour. I am currently reading the second book in the series and so far, I am absolutely loving it. The character Penny also has anxiety and suffers from Panic Attacks so I can easily relate to the character and know exactly how she must be feeling in certain events. It is definitely a book I would recommend for girls (and boys) aged 11-16 (according to Amazon).

3. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I can relate to Cather Avery because of the fanfiction. To pass the time, I often write fanfiction on books such as Harry Potter and The Hunger Games, though I don't publish it online, like Cath does. Another thing, is that she also has anxiety, so I can guess how she feels when she experiences moments of anxiety.
